shaped by this baptismal journey!"
Baptism, Marriage
and Funerals
Baptisms at Saint John's
Although a person is baptized once, the gift of
baptism continues throughout a Christian's life. The ongoing
nature of that faith is part of our congregation's ministries of
formation, education, service and witness as we Grow in Faith
Together.

"In holy baptism the triune God delivers us from
the forces of evil, puts our sinful self to death, gives us new
birth, adopts us as children and makes us members of the body of
Christ, the church."
Scheduling a baptism. The first step
is a consultation with the pastor. Appointments to speak the the
pastor can be made by calling Dale Zmijewski at 570-902-9051 or by
calling the church office at 570-735-8531.
Baptisms are congregational events which are most appropriately
celebrated during the regular public services of the church.
The Baptismal feasts of the church are most appropriated occasions
for the sacrament. Special cases or baptisms in case of emergency
should be directed to the Pastor.
Weddings at Saint John's

Saint
John's
provides an ideal setting and support for Christian weddings.
The beautiful Sanctuary can accommodate most wedding
requirements. Our staff can offer special care to each
and every wedding couple. We believe that entering into marriage
and planning the wedding ceremony deserve the best and most
careful preparation.
Saint
John's
views a wedding service as
a sacred ceremony within the context of a worship service. It is
our intent that the music chosen for the wedding ceremony be
supportive and consistent with the sacred nature of the service.
Consequently, all music must be scripture based. Secular love
songs do not meet with the criteria mentioned above. The musical
selections can show a flexibility of style, an abundance of
Christian music fits within the parameters set by the church.
Selections should be submitted for approval two months before
the wedding date.
What days and times
are available for a ceremony?
Any Day or time that in mutually agreeable to the couple and the
Pastor is appropriate. Weddings during Holy Week or other
religious holidays are discouraged.
Who can be married at Saint John's?
You can be married at Saint John's whether you are a member or a
non-member.
May we have our own musicians?
Yes, but Saint John's organist/pianist should be approached
first.
Further information:
Further information, pre
wedding instruction, and
costs [non member] are available by calling Dale Zmijewski, parish secretary
at Saint John's at 570-902-9051 or at
dpzmijewski5@gmail.com
May God bless your wedding plans and marriage.
Funerals at Saint John's

Saint John's staff is available to assist with all funeral
preparations. During this most difficult time for families and
friends, Saint John's is here to help arrange for a
meaningful and thoughtful service.
Please contact
Pastor Kaufman if death draws near so the last rites of the church may
be offered. Prior to finalizing funeral arrangements with the
Funeral Home the family should consult with
the pastor.
